The test is now in Year 5 — planning for 2028 entry
The test is one morning. The journey is every school morning. From 2028 entry the Gloucestershire grammar schools test in the summer of Year 5, with a new provider, FSCE — earlier than most families expect. This is the year to plan the daily journey alongside the school choice.
Now, before the busy Year 6 autumn. It takes two minutes.
Key dates for Year 5 families
- 8 February – 19 March 2027 — Test registration opens and closes at 12 noon, with the schools.
- Saturday 3 July 2027 — Test day — in the summer term of Year 5.
- September 2028 — First day. Apply in Year 6, by 31 October 2027.
Dates change each year, so always check the individual school's own admissions policy before relying on them.
Register transport interest before the busy autumn
The test registration window and the transport registration are separate, and neither one reserves the other. Registering your interest in a coach now takes two minutes and means your stop is on our map before the Year 6 rush.
Register for as many schools as your child might apply to. It is free, it commits you to nothing, and no payment is due until school places are confirmed.

Register your interest, free
Tell us your school, start year and postcode, then request or vote for your stop. Families from Swindon and nearby towns and villages are welcome. A free interest registration does not reserve a coach place, and under our normal terms nothing is paid until school places are confirmed in March.
